Outdoor kitchens, fire pits and lighting.
The patio is the floor. A kitchen, a fire feature and good lighting are what make people actually use it once the Sacramento heat breaks in the evening.

What we do differently
Outdoor kitchen islands
Block-built islands with stone or stucco finishes, counters and space for a built-in grill, sink or fridge. Gas, water and electrical are run by licensed trades.
Fire pits and fire tables
Wood or gas, round or linear, sized so the seating around them is comfortable and placed with clearance from the house and trees.
Seat walls
Low walls that give a patio built-in seating, define the space and hold back a little grade at the same time.
Landscape lighting
Low-voltage path, step, wall and tree lighting so the yard is usable and safe after dark, wired on a timer.
Common questions
Are fire pits allowed in Sacramento?
Gas fire pits are generally fine. Wood burning is restricted on no-burn days set by the Sacramento air district, so many people choose gas.
Do outdoor kitchens need permits?
Usually, once gas lines, plumbing or new electrical circuits are involved. We tell you what applies at your address.
Can lighting be added to an existing patio?
Yes. Low-voltage fixtures can be added to most existing patios, walls and steps, with wiring run under mulch or in the joints.
