Walkways, entries and side yards.
The narrow dirt strip beside the house and the cracked path to the front door are usually the most-used ground on a property. They are also some of the quickest projects to get right.

What we do differently
Front entries
Wider walks and landings that make the front of the house feel finished.
Steps with even risers
Consistent step heights and treads, with lighting if you want it.
Side-yard paths
Pavers, concrete or decomposed granite so the side yard stops turning to mud.
Drainage built in
Paths graded so water moves off them instead of pooling at the house.
Common questions
Is decomposed granite a good walkway?
Stabilized DG works well for low-traffic paths and costs less than pavers, but it tracks into the house more and needs topping up over time.
Can you add steps to a slope?
Yes. Block, paver or concrete steps can be built into most slopes, often with a short retaining wall on each side.
