Paver patios that stay flat.
Most patio problems start under the pavers. Sacramento clay swells in winter and shrinks in summer, and a thin base lets that movement show up as dips, rocking stones and open joints.
What we do differently
Base sized to the job
A walk-on patio typically gets 4 to 6 inches of compacted base rock. Areas that take a car or a hot tub get more.
Edges that hold
Concrete or spiked edge restraint keeps the field from creeping outward, which is where most paver failures begin.
Polymeric sand joints
Swept, compacted and set so weeds and ants have a harder time getting in.
Cooler color choices
Lighter pavers and travertine stay noticeably cooler underfoot in July than dark concrete.
From the first consultation to the final walkthrough, the communication was excellent. Every question was answered clearly and the finished patio exceeded our expectations.
Common questions
Pavers or concrete for a patio?
Pavers cost more up front but flex with clay movement and can be lifted and reset if a section settles. Concrete is less expensive per square foot but will crack at some point; good control joints decide where.
How long does a patio take?
Most backyard patios take a few working days once materials arrive. Demo of an old slab adds a day or two.
Do I need a permit for a patio?
A ground-level patio usually does not. A covered patio, or one tied to new gas or electrical, usually does. We will tell you what applies at your address.
